When Richard Pombo sat for his portrait as Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee, he followed the committee’s tradition of including vistas from back home. The Sacramento Representative posed in front of a painting of the nearby Shasta Dam. Pombo asked the artist to include other aspects of his work and his congressional district: longhorn cattle horns, a model logging truck, Native American blanket, and the Pombo family cattle brand embroidered on the Chairman’s shirt cuff.
