Masons led a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue and then re-enacted George Washington’s Capitol cornerstone-laying ceremony, all in period garb. The 1932 event kicked off a commemoration of the bicentennial of George Washington’s birth. Representative Sol Bloom was the maestro of this and scores of other events during the year-long celebration.
