Representative Winnifred Huck powdered her nose before going onto the House Floor. Huck served in the 67th Congress as a Member from Illinois. After leaving the House, she went undercover, posing as a convict to observe conditions in a women’s prison. Huck reported on the criminal justice system and the treatment of prisoners for the Chicago Evening Post.
