Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers began his time on Capitol Hill in 1958 on the staff of Representative John D. Dingell. He began representing his own Michigan district in 1965. Before becoming chairman of the Judiciary Committee—represented by the judicial scales—Conyers served three terms as chairman for the Committee on Government Operations.
