House Page by day, Adolph Turner transformed into a singer with the Washington Opera Company by night. He sang in productions of “Rigoletto,” “La Boheme,” and “Romeo and Juliet,” among other operas. Although his vocal roles remained minor, his contributions to the ensemble were recognized by the press. Holding sheet music in this image, Turner belted out a tune at the East Front of the Capitol in 1928.
