Martin Wade represented Iowa for a single term in the middle of his distinguished legal career. Appointed a judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa in 1915, Wade had a special interest in constitutional rights and wrote several books on the topic. He remained involved in politics, as a member of the Democratic National Committee and a convention delegate.
