Peter Garland represented Maine for just one term, but had an eventful career both before and after. He was in the U.S. Air Corps during World War II, mayor of Saco, Maine, and a field advisor for the Small Business Administration, all before serving in Congress. After his term, he went on to become city manager of five different locales.
