This classic view of the Tidal Basin cherry blossoms with the Capitol dome in the distance was produced by Washington News Company, one of the first postcard publishers in D.C. The linen-textured paper and intense, bright colors of the “Colorchrome” printing process were the norm in the 1930s. Views that benefited from vivid colors—including cherry blossom season with its attendant masses of pink blossoms and blue skies—were produced in great numbers using this process.
