Joseph Rodgers served as Sergeant at Arms for the House of Representatives from 1919 to 1931. He was the officer in charge of maintaining security in the House Chamber and on the House side of the Capitol. The position of Sergeant at Arms is one of the oldest in the House, dating to the 1st Congress.
