George Pearre was a popular politician from western Maryland. As a Congressman, he was best known as the sponsor of an early 20th century pro-labor measure, known as the Pearre bill. This button’s style, with a head-and-shoulders photograph and the candidate’s name, is typical of the early days of the campaign pin, which was patented 1896.
