The 1952 presidential election process concluded with this January 1953 counting of the electoral college’s votes. Vice President Alben Barkley presided over the Joint Session in the House Chamber, with House Parliamentarian Lewis Deschler at his elbow to advise him. At day's end, Dwight D. Eisenhower was formally declared the winner.
