The 2005 Congressional Baseball Game welcomed the event back to the District, and RFK Stadium, for the first time since 1972. The cover of the program commemorates that 1972 game, showing Silvio Conte—manager of the winning Republican team of that year—with Boston baseball great Ted Williams, and Frank Clark, who played with the Democrats. In 2005, there was also a “trophy series" award, in which the winner of a best-of-five game series is awarded a trophy.
