This photograph is a rare glimpse of an early political poster in use. Congressman Fred Vinson’s picture and pitch are tacked up on the porch of a country store, alongside ads for Beech-Nut Tobacco and improving lectures given by the visiting Chautauqua speakers. Although the poster's life was fleeting, Vinson’s career was not. He served many years in the House and later became Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
