Lincoln Diaz-Balart of Florida was a refugee from the 1959 Cuban revolution and a leading congressional voice for reform of the Cuban government. He got his start in politics as a Democrat, but by the time he ran for Congress, he had switched his party allegiance to the Republicans, as the GOP elephant on this button makes clear.
