WALDO, Daniel; a House Chaplain; born in Windham, Windham County, Conn., September 10, 1762; graduated from Yale College, New Haven, Conn., 1789; licensed to preach by the Association of Windham County, Conn., 1789; ordained in the Congregationalist Church, West Suffield, Conn., 1792; soldier, United States Army, 1778; pastor, West Suffolk, Conn., 1792–1809; missionary to Rhode Island Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, 1811–1820; pastor, Cambridge, Mass., 1820; pastor, Exeter, R.I., 1823–1835; pastor, Sodus, N.Y., 1835–1864; elected Chaplain of the United States House of Representatives for the Thirty-fourth Congress (February 21, 1856–March 3, 1857); died on July 30, 1864, in Syracuse, N.Y.
