a Postmaster from Kentucky; born in Carrollton, Carroll County Ky., September 23, 1911; attended University of Kentucky, Lexington, Ky., 1929–1931; L.L.B., National Law Center (now The George Washington University), Washington, D.C., 1939; staff, Democratic Cloakroom, United States House of Representatives, 1932–1940; staff, United States Representative Virgil Chapman of Kentucky, 1940–1949; staff, United States Senator Virgil Chapman of Kentucky, 1949; assistant Clerk of the United States House of Representatives, 1949–1951; staff, United States Senator Thomas Underwood of Kentucky, 1951–1952; staff, United States Representative John Clarence Watts of Kentucky, 1952–1955; elected Postmaster of the United States House of Representatives for the Eighty-fourth Congress and for the eight succeeding Congresses until his resignation on June 30, 1972 (January 5, 1955–June 30, 1972); died on January 28, 1991, in Carrollton, KY; interment at New Castle Cemetery, Henry, Ky.
