HORNER, Robert E., a Doorkeeper from New Jersey; born in New Jersey, circa 1800; secretary, New Jersey legislative council, 1841; elected Doorkeeper of the United States House of Representatives for the Thirtieth Congress and retained the post for the Thirty-first Congress until his death on May 28, 1851 (December 8, 1847–May 28, 1851); died on May 28, 1851, in Princeton, N.J.


* Election of Doorkeeper was postponed to March 1, 1851, when it was postponed indefinitely. Horner retained the duties of Doorkeeper from the 30th Congress through the 31st Congress.
