Biography

a Postmaster from Wisconsin; born in Illinois, September 9, 1873; educated in Chicago area schools; attended University of Wisconsin; druggist; staff, Office of the Postmaster, United States House of Representatives, circa 1908–1919; elected Postmaster of the United States House of Representatives for the Sixty-sixth Congress and for the five succeeding Congresses (May 19, 1919–December 7, 1931); House minority clerk in 1934; elected Postmaster of the United States House of Representatives for the Eightieth Congress, and served until his death on October 15, 1948 (January 3, 1947–October 15, 1948); died on October 15, 1948, in Washington, D.C.; interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, Md.
