The following lists were developed to answer reference questions often posed by Member offices, researchers, and the general public. One hundred and thirteen of the 329 women who have served in Congress are current Members—90 in the House and 23 in the Senate. In total, there have been 289 women Members of the House of Representatives and 52 Senators. Twelve women have served in both chambers.
