The following lists were developed to answer reference questions often posed by Member offices, researchers, and the general public. One hundred and three of the 299 women who have served in Congress are current Members—83 in the House and 20 in the Senate. In total, there have been 265 women Members of the House of Representatives and 44 Senators. Ten women have served in both chambers.
